Road trip
A road trip was a long-distance journey on a road, especially as part of ones' vacation. Such trips were common by use of a ground vehicle or automobile. The use of such vehicles for that purpose might have been less common by 2036, when hover cars started to become common. (VOY: "The 37's")
A song from 1941 called Let's Get Away from It All references taking a road trip in its' lyrics which say: "Let's take a trip in a trailer." (TNG: "Manhunt")
In 2259, when the USS Enterprise was about to investigate the distress call sent by the USS Peregrine, Captain Christopher Pike told his crew that it was time to take the station wagon for a road trip. He then told them "Don't make me turn this car around!" (SNW: "All Those Who Wander")
In the early 25th century at 10 Forward Avenue in Los Angeles, William T. Riker insisted on helping Jean-Luc Picard to find Doctor Beverly Crusher, telling him they were overdue for a "good old fashioned road trip." (PIC: "The Next Generation")
