Rebuttal

Rebuttal was a response to an argument that contradicted or attempted to disprove it.

In 2367, when Acost Jared admitted that Ardra had had little effect on the environmental reforms on Ventax II, Data called for the impostor's rebuttal. (TNG: "Devil's Due")

In 2370, Calvin Hudson responded to Benjamin Sisko's speech urging that he call off a Maquis attack on a Cardassian weapons depot, saying his best rebuttal would be to kill Sisko. (DS9: "The Maquis, Part II")
