Rainn Dietrich Wilson (born 20 January 1966; age 59) is an American actor who portrayed Harry Mudd in the Star Trek: Discovery the first season episodes "Choose Your Pain" and "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad". He also played the character and his android replicas in the fourth Star Trek: Short Treks episode "The Escape Artist", which he also directed.

Along with Larry Dobkin, Richard Compton, Andrew Robinson, Lea Thompson, and Leslie Hope, he is one of the six non-series regulars who both acted and directed on Star Trek.

He made his film debut in Galaxy Quest (1999, starring Alan Rickman, with Missi Pyle), and is best known for playing oddball Dwight Schrute on The Office (on which Spencer Daniels had a recurring role).

He also appeared in House of 1000 Corpses (2003, with Sid Haig and Michael J. Pollard), Juno, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017), Permanent (2017), and The Meg (2018). He had a recurring role in Six Feet Under and played the title character in Backstrom. On Broadway he appeared in The Tempest with Patrick Stewart.
