A prop was an object used by a performer to enhance their act.

In 2365, a holographic comedian suggested that Data use a cigar as a prop for his comedy act. (TNG: "The Outrageous Okona")

In 2380, one of the The Farm-bound patients aboard the Osler denied an accusation of mutiny, saying their improvised weapons were props for a musical they were putting on. (LD: "Much Ado About Boimler")
