Nguyen

Captain Nguyen was a female Human command division officer who served as the commanding officer of the USS Vancouver during the early 2380s.

In 2380, she briefly spoke with Captain Carol Freeman of the USS Cerritos when the two ships conducted a meeting with several Mixtus inhabitants to resolve several conflicts regarding the outcomes of collapsing an unstable moon. During her brief introduction, she displayed an immense sense of superiority, and spoke to Freeman as if she were a newcomer looking for better possibilities.

Later, she was present when Freeman discovered that the lone holdout against destroying the moon was one of two people who lived on Mixtus II. After all the annoyance this individual had put the officers through, Nguyen happily stood by as Freeman ordered the Vancouver's ops officer to implode the moon. (LD: "Cupid's Errant Arrow")

In 2381 after months of preparation, Nguyen was scheduled to lead the reopening of post-war trade negotiations with the Karemma of the Gamma Quadrant. While en route to Deep Space 9 however, the Vancouver was suddenly rerouted to the Hasparga system to assist in the evacuation of a colony supposedly threatened by a brown hole. As the Cerritos had been assigned to support the Vancouver for the talks with the delivery of gifts, Freeman was ordered to negotiate in Nguyen's place by Vice Admiral Les Buenamigo despite her skepticism that brown holes even existed. (LD: "Hear All, Trust Nothing") It later emerged that Buenamigo had been attempting to sabotage Freeman's career to get his Texas-class project off the ground and believed that Freeman would be unable to deal with the negotiations, showing the emergency was fabricated.
