Loot Crate

Loot Crate, Inc. was an American subscription box marketing and distribution company that was based in Pasadena, California, and was founded by Matthew Arevalo and Chris Davis in May 2012. Its successor company markets and distributes its entertainment products to thirty-five countries worldwide. [1]
Following a change of ownership, the Loot Crate brand was transferred and the company's name was changed to The Loot Company LLC in October 2019. [2]
Star Trek releases
Prior to the inception of its Mission Crate line, the company released a number of Star Trek novelty items within its science fiction-themed subscription "crates", many of which were later included in the Bonus Crate detailed below.
Star Trek Mission Crate releases

In September 2017, the company announced that it was introducing a licensed bi-monthly Star Trek-themed subscription box product line, in partnership with toy and replica manufacturer Quantum Mechanix (QMx). The QMx products retailed by Loot Crate were also distributed by QMx's webshop and other sites.
Six crates were planned and a metal desktop replica of a starship was announced as a gift premium for customers who subscribed for the entire series. [3]
Persistent delays plagued the line and all crates arrived months behind schedule.

In a January 2019 message to subscribers, the company apologized for the delay of the fourth crate and announced that the line would be discontinued after "all outstanding" crates were shipped to customers over the first half of the year. The statement asserted that the release status of the gift premium (metal USS Enterprise) would be clarified at a later time. [4] As was typical of a myriad of previous inaccurate statements from the company, the gift premium was not released and no further information about it was ever published, nor was an explanation or compensation ever offered to subscribers.
Following the layoff of its warehouse staff in July 2019, the company and its subsidiaries filed for voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 11 August 2019, while it attempted to sell the company to Loot Crate Acquisition LLC, an affiliate of Money Chest LLC that is majority-owned by NECA. [5]
After its successful acquisition in late 2019 and the company's change of name to The Loot Company, emails were again sent, asserting that the remaining three crates of the series would be shipping to subscribers soon.
A fourth and fifth Mission Crate began to reach customers in December 2019, and the sixth arrived during the following month. The last three crates did not contain any QMx products.
