Kier

Kier was a Majalan who served as a member of the Linnarean Guard during the 23rd century. Minister Alora had known him for years, though she had no idea that he opposed the Majalan practice of sacrificing the First Servant, a child, to sustain their advanced civilization. Kier had defaced the back of his oath coin, a sacred symbol of his station, to express his renunciation of Majalan society.

In 2259, Kier secretly collaborated with Elder Gamal and dissident colonists from Prospect VII in an unsuccessful bid to kidnap the First Servant and save his life. He was present on a combat cruiser that targeted the shuttle transporting the First Servant to Majalis. The cruiser was shot down by the USS Enterprise, but Kier along with the remaining crew were able to beam out before it crashed.

Given evidence of the Linnarean Guard's involvement in the kidnapping plot, Alora contrived to examine the oath coins of all the Guard members. She noticed that the casing of Kier's oath coin had been damaged; Kier dismissed this as an accident, before attempting to flee. Upon being cornered by Captain Christopher Pike, Kier took Alora hostage at knifepoint. Alora broke free, and in the ensuing struggle, Kier was accidentally impaled on his own blade.
