Holy path

The holy path was a ritual of the Amerind inhabitants.

In 2268 on James T. Kirk's joining day with Tribal Priestess Miramanee, Kirk waited until Tribal Elder Goro first walked the holy path to the earth lodge to give Goro time to tell the priestess that Kirk follows and that the joining would take place.

While walking the holy path, former Medicine Chief Salish ambushed Kirk with a knife. Salish did not want to permit the joining, even if he were a god. Salish cut Kirk's hand and they fought before demanding that Kirk kill him, because he would not rest until he proved to his people that Kirk was no god. Kirk spared Salish before walking away and reaching the earth lodge. (TOS: "The Paradise Syndrome")
