The Great Soolian Algae Crisis was an event that occurred within the Federation in 2341. It involved an octopus named Ambassador Koro communicating telepathically with a sentient algae known as the algaeic slime mind, which seemed to be causing the rapid growth of algae, which was overrunning the Starfleet Aquatic Research Center.

The event figured prominently in the fictional setting of Brad Boimler's holonovel Crisis Point II: Paradoxus. Ensigns Sam Rutherford and D'Vana Tendi played this part of the holonovel, while Boimler and Beckett Mariner were off searching for the "meaning of life" in the same program.
