Glycyrrhizic acid

Glycyrrhizic acid was a chemical compound found within black licorice. It conducted electricity when dissolved.

While being held prisoner by Doctor Ruon Tarka on Booker's ship in 3190, Commander Jett Reno asked for and received some black licorice. She exploited its glycyrrhizic acid content to activate a communicator chip she had surreptitiously taken from the USS Discovery. (DIS: "Species Ten-C")
