The Galen system was a planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant. This system was near the Federation-Talarian border.

Nearby inhabited star systems included the Talar, Kiley, Gamma Trianguli, Alpha Majoris, Scalos, and Algol systems.

It was a single star system consisting of a K-type primary.

Planetary system

There were five planets in this system. One of these planets was the inhabited warp-capable world of Galen IV. By 2259, the United Federation of Planets had established first contact with this system and could visit it freely.

Stellar cartography

In 2259, the location of this system was labeled on a stellar cartography chart that was seen on the USS Enterprise's ready room viewscreen. This system's symbol had a blue color, indicating that it was affiliated with the United Federation of Planets. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds", "Children of the Comet")

On stardate 1292.4, the location of this system was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Team briefing. This system's symbol had a yellow color, indicating that it was affiliated with the Cardassian Union. (Star Trek: Section 31)
