Galen IV

Galen IV was the inhabited fourth planet of the Galen system. Located in the Alpha Quadrant, this Class M forested planet had no moons and was home to both a native species and a Federation colony. This planet was near the Federation-Talarian border.

The Federation had established first contact with this planet by 2259. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")

During the late 2350s, Galen IV was disputed between the Federation and the Talarian Republic, who saw the Federation as encroaching on their territory. In 2357, the planet was attacked during the Galen border conflict by Talarian forces, commanded by Endar. All the colonists were believed to have been massacred, the colony destroyed, but a single survivor emerged years later as Endar's adopted son Jono. (TNG: "Suddenly Human")

This planet's quadrant of origin was inferred based on the position of the Talarian Republic as seen in the star chart appearing in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".
The Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 292 classified Galen IV as a M-class planet and located it in the Galen system.
In the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I") , Galen IV was listed as a Federation member in 2378.
