Frontier

The frontier was either a political and geographic region located at the border between two states, or settled or developed territory lying near to unexplored regions.

In 2266, Harcourt Fenton Mudd recruited wives for settlers on frontier planets, such as Ophiucus III. (TOS: "Mudd's Women")
