Escape the Void was one of the holopod simulations presented by Shari yn Yem during the drills she conducted aboard the USS Cerritos in 2381. According to Yem, the simulation was based on the experiences of various other Starfleet crews.

At one point, Lieutenant junior grade Winger Bingston, Jr.'s active score in Escape the Void was 57%, though he later failed with a score of 33%. (LD: "I, Excretus")

The title of this simulation may be a reference to the Star Trek: Voyager episode "The Void".
