Izar system
The Izar system, also known as the Epsilon Boötis system or 36 Boötis system, was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.
This was a binary star system consisting of the orange giant Izar (the formal name for Epsilon Boötis A) and the white star Epsilon Boötis B.
In this system, there was the inhabited planet Izar.
Stellar cartography
The Izar system was visible from Earth in the constellation Boötes. This system was approximately 203 light years from Sol.
In 2401, the system's location was labeled on a star chart found on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII. (PIC: "Disengage")
In 3191, the system's location was labeled on a star chart. (DIS: "Red Directive")
Information on this system was derived from the episodes, the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and real-world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. The real-world information added to the article was current as of 2025.
The star chart seen on the bridge of the SS Eleos XII appears to be an updated chart from Star Trek: Star Charts. Dave Blass published pictures of the set on his website.
