Dust cloud

A dust cloud or dust belt was a cloud-like concentration of dust. A dust cloud outside a star system was known as an interstellar dust cloud. Minor electromagnetic radiation with neutrino emissions were normal within dust clouds.

The Kenfori system contained a massive dust belt. In 2261, the USS Enterprise used this cloud as cover to approach the restricted planet Kenfori undetected. (SNW: "Shuttle to Kenfori")

In 2366, the USS Enterprise-D concealed itself inside a dust cloud in the Paulson Nebula, while attempting to evade a Borg cube. (TNG: "The Best of Both Worlds"; PIC: "The Next Generation")

In 2368, after a Type C asteroid had struck an unpopulated continent on the planet Penthara IV, the resulting dust cloud could have created a phenomenon not unlike the nuclear winters of 21st century Earth. (TNG: "A Matter Of Time")
