Dune

A dune was a hill sculpted out of the sand by wind or geological phenomena. One notable example were the Dunes of Talmouth. (VOY: "Mortal Coil")

In 2267, Leonard McCoy remarked that the terms "void" and "star desert" made him think of oases, dunes and mirages. (TOS: "The Squire of Gothos")

In 2374, Benjamin Sisko and Julian Bashir took up defensive positions on the dunes of a class M planetoid. (DS9: "Rocks and Shoals")
