The Dunes

The Dunes was a hotel and casino located in Las Vegas, Nevada on Earth.

In the holosuite program Bashir 62, a rendition of 1962, the Dunes was one of the biggest venues along the Vegas Strip. That year, Vic Fontaine had a table reserved at the Dunes for himself and his lady friends Ginger and Melissa, where they were going to see Shecky perform. (DS9: "His Way")

Following the hostile takeover of his lounge by Frankie Eyes, Vic attempted to get gigs at other local casinos including the D.I., the Sands and the Dunes. None of them returned his calls. (DS9: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")

Star Trek Encyclopedia image of the Dunes

According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, 4th ed., vol. 1, p. 223, the Dunes operated from the mid-1950s until 1993. An image of the establishment, from circa 1955, appeared on p. 602 of the third edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia. This picture did not make a return appearance in the fourth edition .
