Chess tournament

A chess tournament was a competition of chess players.

In 2367, there were two chess tournaments occurring on board the USS Enterprise-D on the same day. Data mentioned them in a letter to Bruce Maddox. (TNG: "Data's Day")

Later that year, Geordi La Forge had false memories of, among other things, taking second place in a chess tournament during his vacation on Risa. (TNG: "The Mind's Eye")
