A castaway was a person who was cast adrift or ashore, such as after a shipwreck.

In 2266, Captain Ramart introduced Charles Evans as the Antares' young castaway. (TOS: "Charlie X")

In 2382, the crew of the prime universe Section 31 Defiant-class starship Anaximander -- aside from Captain William Boimler -- were all "interdimensional castaways" as they had fallen through various quantum fissures and been rescued by the ship. (LD: "Fissure Quest")
