Caldos system

The Caldos system, also known as Beta Octantis, was an inhabited planetary system in the Beta Quadrant. This system was visible from Earth in the constellation Octans. (Star Trek: Section 31). It was approximately two hundred light years from Earth. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")

Established sometime before 2242, the Federation colony on the planet Caldos was one of the first major terraforming projects. (TNG: "Sub Rosa")

In 2324, the location of Caldos was labeled in a chart used during a Section 31 Alpha Squad briefing. (Star Trek: Section 31)

Information on this system was derived from the episodes and films, from the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and from real world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts seen in Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Picard, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Prodigy, and Star Trek: Lower Decks. The primary of the Caldos system was classified as an A-class star by the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"; "United Federation of Planets II") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"). Caldos was listed as a Federation member in 2378.
The real-world distance to this system from Sol was approximately 149 light years.
