The star was located in Klingon territory and, in the 32nd century, it was in the Klingon Zone. The stellar index number for Beta Penthe was 934-83294.

In 2293, the location of Beta Penthe was labeled in the star chart for the "Operation Retrieve" command briefing. The system map, showing the position of the star, was included in the plans for "Operation Retrieve". Both the star chart and map were seen in the office of the Federation President on Earth.
