Alshain (system)

Alshain, also known as Beta Aquilae or 60 Aquilae, was an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.

Components

Stellar system

This was a trinary star system. It was organized into a single star system and a binnar star system.

The primary Alshain (the proper name for Beta Aquilae A) was located in the single star system. This was a G-type subgiant.

In the binary system, there were the red dwarfs Beta Aquilae B and Beta Aquilae C.

Planetary system

There were at least four planets in the Alshain system. Located in the system's habitable zone, there was the planet Alshain IV, which was the Alshain homeworld. Another planet in the system, Beta Aquilae II, was home to a Starfleet Academy annex in the 24th century. (ENT: "Cold Front"; TNG: "Eye of the Beholder"; DIS: "Red Directive")

Stellar cartography

The Alshain system was visible from Earth in the constellation Aquila. It was approximately 44 light years from Sol.

In the 2150s, this system's position was labeled on an United Earth star chart which was displayed in several crew and guest quarters aboard the Enterprise. (Star Trek: Enterprise, set decoration)

In 3191, this system's location was labeled on a star chart. (DIS: "Red Directive")

This star system was only mentioned in writing.
Information on this system was derived from the episodes, from the reference works Star Trek: Star Charts and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library, and from real world sources. The reference works were used extensively in the creation of star charts
The star chart seen in the series Star Trek: Enterprise made its first appearance in Crewman Daniels quarters in "Cold Front". It was also seen in several other episodes of the series, from 2151 to 2154. (For more information, see Federation star charts#United Earth Alpha/Beta star chart
