Basking was a type of animal behavior that involved lying in the sun to regulate body temperature.

Cardassians enjoyed basking. (DS9: "For the Cause")

The formerly oppressed lizard men enjoyed basking in the sun. Once they were "freed" by Beckett Mariner, she rationalized that they were now free to bask without the fear of being eaten by the rats. (LD: "Crisis Point")
