Actuator

An actuator was a part of a device or machine that helped it to achieve physical movements by converting energy, often electrical, air, or hydraulic, into mechanical force.

While contacting Chakotay, B'Elanna Torres said that the actuators were not working, and Pelk believed that it was probably just the decouplers, and they were always getting encrusted with oxides. (VOY: "Juggernaut")
