Texila American University Zambia (TAU–Z) is a private university in Lusaka, Zambia, established in 2016 after gaining its charter from the Higher Education Authority (HEA) of Zambia.[1] TAU–Z offers a comprehensive range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs, particularly in medicine, public health, business administration, and information technology.[2]
The university is a member of the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), the Association of African Universities (AAU), the Distance Education Association of Southern Africa (DEASA), and the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
Programs offered
School of Medicine
Programmes include the Health Professions Foundation Programme (HPFP) and the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB). Students progress from foundational sciences to clinical rotations across core specialties. These programmes are accredited by the Health Professions Council of Zambia and registered with the Higher Education Authority.
School of Public Health
Undergraduate and postgraduate options include the Bachelor of Public Health, Master of Public Health, and PhD in Public Health. The curriculum emphasises epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, and community health, with recognition from national regulatory bodies.

Texila American University Zambia is registered with the Higher Education Authority (HEA), the statutory body overseeing higher education in Zambia.[3] Health-related programmes, including the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and the Master of Public Health (MPH), are accredited by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).[4] The university is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), maintained by the World Federation for Medical Education and FAIMER. In November 2024, the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) reviewed TAU Zambia’s MBChB curriculum and confirmed that it meets professional standards; graduates may register in South Africa upon successful completion of the Medical Board Examination. Texila American University Zambia earned accreditation from the British Accreditation Council (BAC), an international body that recognizes institutions meeting global standards of quality in higher education.
