Tentacool is an octopus-like monster with three red tentacles that emerge from the bottom of a shell that resembles a meteorite. A single eye is visible from one of the holes on the side of the meteorite.

Tentacool retreats into its shell- leaving only a brown meteor visible- when at rest, or when attacked with a ranged weapon. This causes any projectiles to become useless against it. Tentacool also has the ability to freeze the player in place when touched, giving a short cooldown in which they cannot move. But, due to being unable to move, it will possibly continue to hit you- a close-range weapon is recommended to finish it off.

So far, Tentacool has been found on Proto planets and Toxic planets- though frozen variants of Tentacool can be found on frozen planets. Breaking the frozen Tentacool gives a couple of ice crystals.

Tentacools may also be encountered in groups as targets of NPC related quests, whereupon a larger specimen may also be present.
