Gas Giant Core is a layer of easily minable and well-illuminated blocks under the Healing Water ocean. This layer is filled with valuable ore.

Only 1/3 of the Gas Giants will have this. Others have either Gas Giant Core Ocean (just another layer of gas) or Gas Giant Dead Core.

GPS in your Tricorder calls this biome "Gas Giant Core Layer III".
