Sloths can be found in every environment present in the Known World, from the mountain peaks to the verdant seagrass meadows. One sloth in particular however is the most awe-striking, its great size and lumbering bulk towering over most other beasts. This sloth is known as the Hukolgur (Tectospelaea archocnus “Ruling sloth that builds caves”) and is one of the largest mammals on Kaimere and the largest sloth ever, standing 15-20 feet tall at the head when they stand upright, 20-25 feet from nose to tail, and are absolutely massive: sows typically weigh between 4-6 tons and bulls routinely double that mass, with the largest known boar weight a humongous 14 tons. Variant: RokelkanThe strong smell of Hukolgur has allowed them in times of low sea levels to cross to various islands in the known world, such as the Khalin Islands in the south and Pakardia. The population in Pakardia has some integration of mainland hukolgur from time to time but generally these sloths, called rokelkan ("cave maker") by the Pakardiant, are given their own species epithet (Tectospelaea rokelkan). Rokelkan are smaller than mainland hukolgur, with sows weighing three to five tons and boar rarely exceeding eight tons, but also have much more substantial fur due to the cold environment, although most boar lose most of it with size, age, and generally wandering through the brush. A rokelkan has a CR 11 (7,200 XP), Constitution 24, and 142 (10d12+70) hit points, but otherwise uses the same statistics as a mainland hukolgur. |
