Soldier (Mass Effect Supplement)

Work In Progress

Soldier

A raging krogan charging at you headlong with a shotgun, an Alliance soldier holding down a choke point alone with nothing but his rifle, a turian on a cliff miles away dropping three armored guards in a split second. The common thread between these three, and many more across the galaxy, is that they are soldiers; combat specialists with unrivaled skill across all weapon types. Unlike other classes, most powers employed by soldiers enhance their own capabilities rather than affecting a target.

    Combat Powers

At 1st level, . You gain one combat power of your choice. You gain a second combat power at 2nd level, a third at 3rd level, a fourth at 9th level, and a fifth at 18th level.

    Casting Ability

Strength is your casting ability for your soldier powers, since you fuel them with sheer physical strain. You use your Strength whenever a power refers to your casting ability. In addition, you use your Strength modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a soldier power you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Power save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

Power attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier

    Soldier Specialization

At 5th level, you chose a form of combat to specialize in. Choose between Commando, Shock Trooper, Asari Huntress, Salarian Operator, Turian Havoc, Human Destroyer, Drell Amonkira Devotee, Elcor Artillery, Hanar Strangler, Volus Atab, Batarian Intervenor, Krogan Berserker, Quarian Marksman, Vorcha Bleeder, all detailed at the end of the class description. Your choice grants you features at 5th level, and again at 10th, 15th, and 20th level.

    Ability Score Improvement

When you reach 4th level, and again at 8th, 12th, 16th and 19th level, you can increase one ability score of your choice by 2, or you can increase two ability scores of your choice by 1. As normal, you can't increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.

    Extra Action

At 6th level, you can take an additional action on each of your turns. This increases to two additional actions at 11th level, three at 17th level, and four at 20th level.

    Adrenaline Burst

At 7th level, your focused fight-or-flight response gives you an unparalleled focus in combat. At will, you may drop your cooldown to 0.

Once you use this feature, you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again. Starting at 14th level, you can use it twice before a rest, but only once on the same turn.

    Combat Mastery

At 13th level, you may install one additional mod into a suit of armor that you are wearing. While you or another creature with this feature is wearing this armor, they benefit from this mod. If the chosen mod is a weapon or ammo mod, rather than affecting the armor, it affects any weapon the wearer wields if they have this feature.

    Commando

No matter how bad the fighting gets, a commando will hold the line, making use of powers more regularly and passively fortifying their armor.
