Rulings
For Toedscruel's "Slime Mold Colony" Ability.
- Against Trainer cards:
- If a player plays Superior Energy Retrieval while their opponent's Slime Mold Colony is active, they discard 2 cards from their hand, but they would not be able to retrieve any Basic Energy cards from their discard pile.[1][2]
- For Stadium cards that allow the player to retrieve cards from the discard pile (e.g. PokéStop, Levincia), Slime Mold Colony depends on who owns the Stadium in play, as the Ability only works on the opposing player's Trainer cards. For instance, a player whose own PokéStop is in play can discard the top 3 cards of their deck, but they cannot retrieve any Item cards discarded in this way if their opponent's Slime Mold Colony is active.[1][2] However, if it is the opponent's PokéStop that is in play, the player can retrieve the discarded Item cards as usual regardless of the opponent's Slime Mold Colony.[1]
- For the Stadium card Skaters' Park: Slime Mold Colony only affects the opposing player's discard pile. With Skaters' Park, any Basic Energy cards that would be discarded whenever the player's Active Pokémon retreats never make it to the discard pile, as they immediately go into the player's hand.[1][2]
- Against Abilities:
- If a player uses Darkrai VSTAR's "Star Abyss" VSTAR Power while their opponent's Slime Mold Colony is active, the VSTAR Power is used up without any effect. The player can't use any more VSTAR Powers during that game.[2]
- If an opponent's Slime Mold Colony is active, a player cannot use the "Propagation" Ability of Exeggcute from the Plasma Freeze expansion to bring itself back from the discard pile.[2]
