Rulings
- Temple of Sinnoh only turns off effects of Special Energy cards attached to Pokémon. The following rulings apply when Temple of Sinnoh is in play:
- Any Special Energy cards that are attached to Pokémon are still considered attached, for the purposes of card effects that check for this condition.[1][2] These card effects include but are not limited to the following:
- Haxorus's "Bring Down the Axe" attack will still Knock Out an opponent's Active Pokémon with any Special Energy attached.
- Ceruledge's "Cursed Edge" attack will still discard all Special Energy cards from the opponent's Pokémon.
- Meloetta's "Melodious Echo" attack still does 70 damage for each Fusion Strike Energy cards attached to all of the player's Pokémon.
- Any effects of Special Energy cards that apply when played from the hand, etc. are still followed. For instance, playing an Aurora Energy still requires the player to discard a card from their hand, and the player still cannot attach Rapid Strike Energy from their hand to non-Rapid Strike style Pokémon.[2]
- For interactions between Temple of Sinnoh and specific Special Energy cards:
- Temple of Sinnoh nullifies the effect of Boomerang Energy, and thus it will not reattach itself from the discard pile after being discarded due to an attack effect.[1]
- If Temple of Sinnoh is in play, and a Pokémon has a Special Energy card that modifies attack damage (eg. Powerful Colorless Energy, Double Turbo Energy), and it uses an attack that discards any Stadium card in play, the damage dealt will not be modified by the Special Energy, as damage was dealt before Temple of Sinnoh was discarded.[1]
- If a player uses Roaring Moon ex's "Calamity Storm" attack while Temple of Sinnoh is in play, and the Defending Pokémon has a Gift Energy attached, and the player chooses to discard the Stadium such that the increased damage causes the Defending Pokémon to be Knocked Out, Gift Energy becomes in effect (since Temple of Sinnoh is no longer in play) and the opponent may draw cards until they have 7 cards in their hand.[1]
- For Special Energy cards that can only be attached to a specific Pokémon category, and are discarded when attached to anything other than the Pokémon category called for (eg. Single Strike Energy, Rapid Strike Energy, Fusion Strike Energy, Team Rocket's Energy, etc.):[2]
- If Temple of Sinnoh is in play and a player has a Rapid Strike Sobble with a Rapid Strike Energy attached, and the player evolves it to a non-Rapid Strike Drizzile, the Rapid Strike Energy stays attached due to Temple of Sinnoh nullifying its effect. However, the Rapid Strike Energy will be discarded from the Drizzile if the Temple of Sinnoh leaves play.
- If Temple of Sinnoh is in play, a player may use Archeops to attach a Rapid Strike Energy to a non-Rapid Strike Pokémon. Temple of Sinnoh's effect causes the Rapid Strike Energy to not be discarded from the non-Rapid Strike Pokémon; however, the Energy will be discarded if the Temple of Sinnoh leaves play.
