The first Pokémon Ga-Olé set was released on July 7, 2016. It features 59 standard disks and 4 secret disks.
Information
The inaugural Pokémon Ga-Olé set features a selection of Pokémon from, as at the time of its release, all six generations, with particular focus on the Mythical Steam Pokémon Volcanion and the Legendary Order Pokémon Zygarde. Both were the focal point of 2 of the 3 available starting courses, appearing as powerful Grade 5 Pokémon. The other launch course focused predominantly on the evolutionary lines of the Generation I and VI first partner Pokémon, the final forms of which can be upgraded to Grade 4. The Grade 4 versions of Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are also able to Mega Evolve.
Four more courses were later added, featuring different selections of Pokémon from previously playable courses in addition to new ones, allowing players to complete the set. Two of these focused on two members of the aura trio, Xerneas and Yveltal, available as Grade 5 Pokémon, while the Mystery Course could include any Pokémon from the first set. A special Pikachu-oriented course was also playable for a limited period of time, which only included selections of Grade 2 and 3 Pikachu from the set. Secret versions of these Pikachu could also be encountered and caught on rare occasions, in addition to secret Shiny versions of Gengar and Gardevoir on other courses.
A number of Ga-Olé Tickets were made available while this set was in operation, not only offering courses with more specific selections of Pokémon, but also allowing players the opportunity to still capture some Pokémon from this set once the standard courses became unavailable to play following the launch of the second set. A couple of Ga-Olé Tickets unlocked courses featuring exclusive Pokémon, which could be captured and distributed as promotional disks.
