Trivia

• The Char counters placed by Quilava's Char attack can be seen as a precursor for the Burned condition later introduced in the Expedition Base Set. The primary difference between the two as they were introduced are that Char is not a Special Condition, so it remains on a Pokémon even if it moves to the Bench.
  • With the release of Sun & Moon, Burned was changed. Currently, Burned puts two damage counters on the Pokémon, then causes that Pokémon's owner to flip a coin. Tails results have no effect, but a heads result causes the Pokémon to recover from Burned. This makes Char counters and Burned more distinct.
