Guard Split (Japanese: ガードシェア Guard Share) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation V.

Effect

Guard Split averages the user's Defense and Special Defense stats with those of the target Pokémon. Both the user's and the target's stat changes are ignored when calculating the average.

Guard Split bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

Stats changes, as well as Assault Vest, Eviolite and other Defense/Special Defense increasing effects, all use the Pokémon’s altered stats rather than its original stats in calculation.

Once switched out, the Pokémon’s altered stats return to normal.

When used on or by a Pokémon with altered stats, Guard Split uses the Pokémon’s altered stats rather than the original to calculate the new average.

If powered up by a Psychium Z into Z-Guard Split, the user's Speed stat is raised by one stage.

Guard Split will fail if used in a Tera Raid Battle (on Boss and allies alike).
