The Battle Factory (Japanese: バトルファクトリーBattle Factory) is a facility in the Generation IVBattle Frontier, having basically the same rules as Hoenn's Battle Frontier's Battle Factory. It is located on the northeast corner of the Battle Frontier. The blue building itself is much like a factory, with exhaust fans, and pipes. There is a long, glass panel on the floor of the building that transfers information around. There are Poké Balls containing rental Pokémon in glass storage panels inside, and there is an electronic battle ground that lights up before a battle begins. Like Hoenn's Battle Factory, it is more dedicated to research than the other facilities, and the subject of the scientists' research is the abilities of Trainers when using random Pokémon in battle.
Challenges
Before entering the Battle Factory, the player will be asked to hand over their current party in exchange for rental Pokémon. The player will then be able to choose three out of six random Pokémon to rent and battle other Trainers; these Pokémon will be either level 50 or 100, depending on whether challenging the Level 50 or Open Level competition. After winning a battle, the player's Pokémon will be healed completely, and the player will have the option to continue, rest, retire, or get their most recent battle recorded on their Vs. Recorder. If the player continues, they will get the offer to trade one of the rental Pokémon for their opponent's rental Pokémon, but they may not see the Pokémon's status before trading. In Multi Battles, each player is initially given their separate selection of six Pokémon, and can rent two of them. After winning a Multi Battle, one of the two players can trade one of their Pokémon for any of the two opponent's rental Pokémon. A scientist will tell the player what Pokémon their opponent will be using before every battle, but after the player progresses through more rounds, the scientist will tell less and less.
Staff information
Before every battle, the Battle Factory scientist staff member will hint about the next Pokémon or move the player will face. The amount of information depends on the current round the player is in. The player should use the data to decide which Pokémon to rent and form a strategy based around it.

If two or more types tie for "most common type", the type with the lowest index number is prioritized. A Pokémon's first move is the move in the top-left slot when choosing which move to use.

Factory Head
Thorton is the Frontier Brain for the Battle Factory. He can be challenged on the 21st consecutive Single Battle. Thorton is subject to the same rules in the Battle Factory; he must use rental Pokémon as well, so his team will not be known until he is encountered. He could have anything except for the Pokémon that are not admissible in the Battle Frontier. Once defeated, he will give away the silver commemorative print. Thorton can be challenged again on the 49th consecutive Single Battle and will give away the gold commemorative print when defeated.
Available Pokémon
Much like the Battle Tower, the species and item clause applies, meaning that the initial rentals always consist of 6 different species, each holding a different item. Opponents are also prevented from generating Pokémon of the same species or with the same held items as the player's current team. In Multi Battles, these clauses apply to all four players combined. The only exception is that the same held item can appear in both players' initial rentals. The initial six rental Pokémon are chosen randomly from the same list.
In round 4, the player will encounter the first variant; in round 5, the second; in round 6, the third; and in round 7, the fourth variant of any given Pokémon. From round 8 onwards, any variant of any Pokémon from group 2 may appear. Legendary Pokémon do not appear before round 8.

In round 1, the player will encounter the first variant; in round 2, the second; in round 3, the third; and in round 4, the fourth variant of any given Pokémon. From round 5 onwards, any variant of any Pokémon from group 2 may appear. Legendary Pokémon do not appear before round 5.
IVs
All available Pokémon, including initial rentals and opponents Pokémon have uniform IVs across all stats. The IVs depend on the round as shown in the following table:

Stronger Pokémon
Depending on the number of trades the player has made in their current streak (i.e. the initial rental counts as one) some of the initial rental Pokémon will be stronger. These Pokémon have IVs and movesets corresponding to the following round. The number of trades required is shown below:

For example, if the player enters round 3 and has made 14 trades, they will be offered two Pokémon from round 4 and four Pokémon from round 3.
Opponent's Pokémon
Much like the Battle Tower, in each round, opponents 1-6 will have Pokémon either from the current round or 1 round before, and opponent 7 (including Thorton) will have Pokémon from the next round (in both IVs and movesets).
In Uprooting Seedot, Platinum successfully reached the streak of 20 consecutive victories required to reach the Frontier Brain, Thorton. Eventually, the match came down to a fist fight between Thorton's rental Ursaring and Platinum's rental Kadabra. Thanks to Kadabra draining Ursaring's health with Drain Punch, it was able to hang in as Ursaring fainted, causing Thorton to lose, much to his disbelief and dismay. Platinum then revealed that she had used Kadabra since the alpha waves it emits interfere with the sensors of precision instruments, such as Thorton's analysis machine.
