Using VMware Workstation 16.x (I don't remember the exact version) and now after upgrading with VMware Workstation 17.6.3, the Ubuntu guest operating system freezes almost immediately, making it unusable.
I have already tried the various suggestions found online.
This solution VMware Workstation Running Ubuntu Freezes Frequently without success:
keyboard.allowBothIRQs = "FALSE"
keyboard.vusb.enable = "TRUE"
This solution Problem with Ubuntu 24.04 on VMware without success:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oibaf/graphics-drivers
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
This solution Ubuntu VM Causing VMWare Workstation Pro to go unresponsive after Upgrade to 17.6 without success:
nano /etc/modprobe.d/vmwgfx-fix.conf
options vmwgfx restrict_dma_mask=1
This solution Ubuntu guest (running in VMware player) freezes on Windows Host without success:
mks.enableVulkanRenderer = "FALSE"
mks.enableGLRenderer = "TRUE"
I also had a warning message regarding this (“Serial0: Parameter "serial0.fileType" has an invalid value "Thinprint”)
serial0.fileType = "thinprint"
serial0.fileName = "thinprint"
serial0.present = "TRUE"
Removed the offending lines, the warning message disappeared but the problem remains.
I think I have also tried all possible combinations of the previous scenarios.
I also tried changing the Hardware Compatibility of the virtual machine from 16.x to 17.x but nothing changed.
It could be a problem related to Hyper-V because some time ago enabling/disabling it also caused some problems on Windows VMs that now seem to work regularly.
