Does anyone know why it takes a while for an iso image of Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS burned to disc to load to the installer/live session? I did a screen record below with timestamp sped up where when booting from disc (DVD-R DL), it will fail similar to this post, and eventually load. IS this common now with burned physical media? Is it not optimized for DVD? Is it because I used ImgBurn to burn iso to disc? I only ask since the system I was booting on did not have available USB ports and I tried my luck with the disc drive.

As stated by @Guiverc (and in other appropriate comments/posts 1 2 ), the installation ISO images for Ubuntu are optimized for flash media (USB drives) instead of optical media (CDs/DVDs) as of about Ubuntu 20.10 and later releases. As mentioned from this forum posts, around this time the installation for Ubuntu was built the same way for all architectures. The best option would be to use flash media for a simpler installation process and faster read/write speeds, but one could also take my path and burn the most recent ISO to a dual-layered disc or figure out a way to reduce it.

I tried a dual layered dvd but it boots with a failure message. The same iso for 24.04 on a flash drive worked perfectly So try the latest version that uses dvd ROM optimization.
