Slack notifications in Ubuntu 23.04, won't go away

enter image description here

I have tried using:

settings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock show-icons-emblems false

But this seems to disable notifications for all applications.

I just want this to work properly meaning that want to see notifications and once i check them out to have them removed.

You need to click on the date time to see a list of pending notifications. If you have already read them, you can just click clear all and then the number on the icon should disappear. Unfortunately just reading the messages on Slack is not enough as the information is not propagated back to Ubuntu Desktop.

I agree that the proper behavior would be for the notifications to go away, once you have clicked through them in Slack.

I don't about a proper fix, but here is a slightly better workaround, disabling notifications only for Slack, not for all apps.

  1. Open Settings => Notifications

  1. Find Slack in Notification Settings

  1. Disable all Notifications for Slack

Perhaps it will become clearer to you, as it became clearer to me ...screenshot
