The Reapers Series/Recap/Episode 100: The Invasion!

The Invasion! is the 100th and final episode of The Reapers Series before the start of the Carnivorous Shadows series.
Synopsis
Looks like Reaper has finally had enough and has decided to take revenge on Vyond City by using the accursed Crimson Necronomicon to turn the place into a demonic realm. As Crimson Peak anomalies invade Vyond City, the Reapers gang wreaking havoc, and with Luna and her friends currently AWOL, people are in a state of panic. But with the Crimson Necronomicon's forbidden spell's consequences, is it all worth the risk?
- Attack Backfire: The efforts of the Vyond City police are wasted when Corbin just shrugs off their bullets like they're nothing.
- Boomerang Bigot: The Strikers on their jets indiscriminately announce a new rule that anyone who isn't a Demonoid or a Crimson Peak anomaly will be killed, despite the fact that the Strikers are literally neither of the 2 things they mention, making their speech come off as hypocritical.
- Deer in the Headlights: Towards the end of the final episode, Corbin immediately stops attacking and sees the Strikers' bus heading straight for him, and realizes too late that he is about to be defeated, and his Oh, Crap! look just sells it, as he is destroyed.
- Didn't Think This Through: The Strikers all realize their mistake when Luna Darkhand points out how dangerous and unstable the Crimson Necronomicon book is, and definitely didn't think of the long-term consequences of letting Reaper perform the Forbidden Spell until the climax of the final episode.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Lana Darkhand reveals in a flashback the reason for her hatred towards humanity and for scaring people with her demonic appearance. Her reason for doing so? All because the ArchAngels decided to start a war with the Demonoids and taking a lot of stuff from them. And later, after the war has concluded, she and her younger sister, Luna Darkhand, bickered over their point of views on humans, which caused them to cut off all ties with each other.
- Drunk with Power: Reaper becomes in over his head when he almost loses his mind to the Crimson Necronomicon, until Luna Darkhand fires a ball of demonic purple energy at the book, causing the former to become furious when he was interrupted by the blast.
- Even Evil Has Standards: As much as the Strikers are willing to aid Reaper and his gang in the invasion, they become horrified when they learn the truth about the Crimson Necronomicon book's true nature from Luna Darkhand to the point where Toni Grayson, Tracy, Jennifer Smith, Stone and Valentina Moore all abandon their plan in favor of stopping the invasion and getting Reaper back to his senses. It's even lampshaded by Toni Grayson when the invasion is averted:
Toni Grayson: I can't believe I'm saying this, but well done, Luna Darkhand. |
- Flashback: Has numerous examples of this:
- Lana Darkhand's backstory can be described as dark, troubled and heartbreaking, especially when you realize the real reason why Lana Darkhand became the way she has become. It is revealed that she has been living in a runned-down, but functioning apartment just to keep a low profile. She has frightened people at supermarkets with her demonic appearance, started arson attacks, and blamed humanity for the protection they have been receiving from the Angeloids.
- Amiira and Bianca Starr's backstories are quite similar to Lana's, but much worse. Amiira's backstory reveals that she has been getting bullied by a former friend named Hudson Callaway, who used to be best friends with both her and Bianca Starr, until she reveals his demonic powers to him, which caused him to betray the both of them, labeling the 2 as demonic freaks. It even gets to the point where both Amiira and Bianca planned their revenge against him, by having him murdered in cold blood, and having his lifeless corpse thrown into the woods to be fed to the wolves. It even gets to the point where they both get arrested. Bianca Starr gets sentenced to prison, while Amiira Storm is admitted to the Macewell County Mental Institution by Officer Hilda Parker. Instead of getting better, the officer who sent her there only inadvertently made her mental health become even worse, to the point of her killing all the nurses and setting fire to the institution, thus making Hilda Parker (the one who arrested her in the flashback) indirectly responsible for accidentally creating the monstrous, psychopathic monster Amiira has become.
- Bianca Starr's backstory is similar to Amiira Storm's, but she reveals that 3 people inadvertently killed her parents in an explosion by accidentally messing up her potions, prompting Bianca Starr and Amiira Storm to hunt and kill them for their outrageous behavior.
- Tiffani Storm reveals to NOVADROME the real reason why Reaper (real name is Caylan Theo Storm) has become the way he is: Their parents were abusive, narcissistic, and absolute perfectionists who were always constantly abusing the both of them for something minor, like not getting perfect grades, or even making the slightest mistake. The parents would eventually go overboard by kicking Tiffani's brother out of the house, and disowning him over his sudden monstrous appearance because of what the Crimson Necronomicon book has done to him after accidentally cursing himself with it. As a result, this causes the then-Caylan to adopt the name "Reaper" in place of his old name.
- Heel Face Turn: Toni Grayson, Valentina Moore, Tracy, Stone and Jennifer Smith does this towards the end of the final episode when they realize just how dangerous the Forbidden Spell truly is, and quickly teams up with both Luna and Lana Darkhand to stop Reaper and put an end to the invasion before it's too late.
- I Can't Believe I'm Saying This: In addition to Exact Words, Toni Grayson literally says this in response to the invasion being thwarted, and congratulates Luna Darkhand accordingly.
- Immune to Bullets: The bullets from the Vyond City police department's weapons do nothing to harm Corbin as he just shrugs it off.
- Know When to Fold'Em: Toni Grayson and a few of the Strikers abandon their plan as the Forbidden Spell becomes too much for their jets to handle and is forced to make an emergency landing back at the Strikers' HQ.
- Large Ham: Reaper delivers one hell of a speech to the citizens of Vyond City, even if we don't count how hammy his Alan text-to-speech voice really is.
- Mighty Roar: The Demon Acolytes including Corbin himself, all respond to Reaper's call with this roar, in addition to Crimson Peak's anomalies responding with their spooky howling.
- Minor Flaw, Major Breakup: In Lana Darkhand's flashback, as part of her Disproportionate Retribution and Misplaced Retribution, she reveals that she severed all ties with her sister, Luna Darkhand, all over a disagreement about the humans.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Toni Grayson and a few of the members of the Strikers all have this as a reaction upon realizing the amount of danger they are in, along with their own allies, and even Crimson Peak, as they decide to go against Reaper's orders to put an end to the invasion once and for all.
- Noblewoman's Laugh: Reagan Moretti makes a surprise appearance to the audience, and ends the episode with this laugh, in addition to her Evil Laugh.
- Oh, Crap!: When Corbin stops attacking to look at a bus being driven by the Strikers, he doesn't attack them at all, and instead just stands there before realizing too late that he is doomed and is quickly defeated by Valentina Moore after running through him.
- Earlier in the episode, the citizens of Vyond City have these as reactions to the invasion, and start running for their lives.
- "Previously On...": This episode picks up where episode 99 left off on, with Luna Darkhand and her friends captured by Valentina Moore
- Public Execution: Was attempted at first, but Luna Darkhand convinces the judge to have them be rehabilitated in prison instead, to which the judge immediately jumps on board with, averting this trope completely.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Violy Anderson delivers one to both Amiira Storm and Bianca Starr:
Violy Anderson: What are you talking about, you sick depraved psychopath?! You and Bianca are just like every generic villain that roams this city. Vile, sadistic, and only cares about themselves! |
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right: Toni Grayson, Tracy, Stone, Valentina Moore (who refused at first, due to her Skewed Priorities, but is called out by Toni for not thinking of their safety, including her own) and Jennifer Smith all disregard Reaper's orders in favor of stopping the invasion (especially after realizing how dangerous the Forbidden Spell is) team up with both Luna and Lana Darkhand to stop Reaper and destroy the Crimson Necronomicon for good.
- Skewed Priorities: Valentina Moore prioritizes a vacation to the Bahamas over their own safety until Toni Grayson calls her out for putting their own safety at risk over some stupid vacation.
- The Starscream: Has a variant and is inverted: Lana Darkhand, while she has gone behind Reaper's back to stop the invasion, teams up with Luna Darkhand to put an end to the invasion. The Crimson Necronomicon is this to Reaper, when its true nature is revealed to the Strikers, causing even them to go against their ally to stop him from completely losing his mind to the book's influence.
- Too Dumb to Live: Daisy Alvarez tries to call the cops on the Reapers, only to get blasted when attempting to do so.
- Villain Has a Point: Reagan Moretti makes a surprising appearance to rightfully point out to the audience how overconfident, arrogant and flawed the Reapers and Strikers were during the whole invasion before ending it off with an Evil Laugh.
- Voice of the Legion: The Crimson Necronomicon speaks like this throughout the whole episode. Reaper, to an extent, in addition to Large Ham, acts as this, even when addressing the civilians of Vyond City.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Reaper wastes no time laying into Luna Darkhand for destroying the Crimson Necronomicon, but this is quickly averted when the Reapers and Strikers are all arrested and sentenced to prison to reflect on their actions.
