Cognate with Lillooet pqus (“bald eagle”), spəlkʷáqs (“bald eagle”), Shuswap spl'qʷeqs (“bald eagle”) and Halkomelem sp'óq'es (“bald eagle”) .

Usage notes
Only refers to adult bald eagles, after their head feathers have turned white. Young bald eagles are called yex̱wéla7.
