Etymology
Perhaps derived from the root -iahiaʼk- (“cross over”) as seen in tetià꞉iaʼks (“I cross over”), referring to crossing over from finger-counting on one hand to the other. If true then inherited from Proto-North Iroquoian *-jahjaɁk-.
