cmilem
Albanian
Etymology
Attested first in Bogdani's work as: ...tue u cmilunë prej Betlemi (...while moving from Bethlehem). Related to Arbëreshë zmol (“to stagger”) with an apophonic relation, both from a *cmiel where cmilem represents the mediopassive and zmol comes from the aorist. Prefixes c- and z- are phonetic variants of the same formant, but c- has an affective value. Further origin of the two verbs remains obscure.[1]
