  1. (aviation) The time from the an aircraft pushes back from the gate at departure of a revenue flight, until the moment the aircraft makes its final stop at the arrival gate following its landing. Equal to flight hours plus taxi time.
    Some airlines average more than twelve block hours a day from their long-haul aircraft.
