Etymology

From Proto-Iranian *Hwahumanah, from *Hwáhuš (good), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hwásuš, + *mánah (mind, thought), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *mánas. Equivalent to *vahuš (good) +‎ 𐎶𐎴𐏃 (manah, mind).[1][2] Cognate with Avestan 𐬬𐬊𐬵𐬎⸱𐬨𐬀𐬥𐬀𐬵 (vohu.manah), Parthian 𐭅𐭄𐭅𐭌𐭍𐭉 (whwmny /⁠Wahman⁠/).
