Laiuse
Estonian
Etymology
Possibly from a personal name, a possible reconstruction is given L. Kettunen to be *Lakjuksen, although further derivation is unclear. Likely not related to laius (“width”), or possible compounds lai (“wide”) + soo (“swamp”), lage (“clear”) + soo. The small borough got its name after an administrative reform in 1977, from the name of the parish.
