Etymology
The għ was added to the spelling etymologically after the Hebrew form, mainly due to purism. Hence, this spelling became superseded in 2008 for "loyalty" towards its Italian etymon. Compare Għebrajk, Arabesk, Magħreb and Għeden for the same treatment.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ɛːbˈrɛw/
- IPA(key): /ɛˤːbˈrɛw/ (archaic, probably never occurred in this word)
- Rhymes: -ɛw
Adjective
Għebrew (feminine singular Għebrija, plural Għebrej)
