Adapted from Arabic البِقَاع (al-biqāʕ, literally the Beqaa) or local North Levantine Arabic البْقاع (l-bʔāʕ, l-bqāʕ), seemingly originally from بِقَاع (biqāʕ, splotches, patches, areas, regions).
