  • Augmentatives of inanimate masculine nouns can be either neuter or masculine. Most such masculine augmentatives have an optional plural in -и; some have a required plural in -и.
  • Augmentatives of animate masculine nouns are generally masculine animate. Such nouns have a required plural in -и and have alternative colloquial forms in the singular with feminine endings.
