黼黻

1. an axe and a figure resembling 亞 embroidered on an official's robe as a symbol of distinction (being two of the Twelve Ornaments, their colors black-and-white, or black and blue-green)

     Gù zèng rén yǐ yán, zhòng yú jīnshí zhūyù; guān rén yǐ yán, měi yú fǔfú wénzhāng; tīng rén yǐ yán, lè yú zhōnggǔ qínsè. [Pinyin]

     To present the proper and good words to others is more precious than gold, gems, pearls and jade. To show the proper and good words to others is more beautiful than the embroidered emblems on the robes of the king. To cause others to hear the proper and good words is more pleasurable than the music of bells and drums and of zithers and lutes.
